Breast cancer, which affects one in every eight women and is one of the most common type of cancer in women, is a strong foe. Pinktober, which is now in full swing, provides both a timely reminder and a call to action. It's important to educate ourselves, offer steadfast support to those who have been affected, raise awareness, and prioritize our own well-being through early screening. In this blog, we'll look at a curated list of breast cancer screening clinics and unique pink initiatives that have taken off in the UAE this month. It's a call for awareness, support, and action in the face of a widespread health problem.

Let's look into a few screening centres in the UAE to help us diagnose breast cancer in the first place.

Friends are all we need during the testing times. Friends of Cancer Patients, a UAE-based non-profit organization with MOH's support, has launched a pink initiative, the Pink Caravan. This initiative offers free screening to facilitate early detection of breast cancer.

Similarly, Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) also offers free screenings, and some government hospitals and health centres under Emirates Health Services also provide mammograms and free screenings.

MiniVan Clinic will provide clinical breast examinations to all women aged 20 years and above who walk in.

Here is all about the stops of Pink Caravan:

Kite Beach on October 29, 4–10 p.m.

Mirdif City Centre on October 8, between 4-10 p.m

Al Sharee Women & Kids Park - B, in Abu Dhabi on October 10, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Majaz Waterfront on October 13, between 4-10 pm.

Brands for Less Shopping Centre, Motor City on October 19 at 10 a.m- 4 p.m

Free clinical exams at Shangri La Hotel, Dubai, on October 19 between 4-6 p.m.

Global Village and Al Habtoor Polo Club on October 27 & 28 between 4-6 p.m. and 2-6 p.m

Free screenings do not end with Pink Caravan. Hospitals and clinics owned by Emirates Health Services also offer complimentary screening.

Eligibility for the free screening is straightforward – you should be above 40, not have had a mammogram in the past two years, and have stopped breastfeeding at least six months prior.

But breast cancer awareness in the UAE goes beyond screening. There are various ways to show your support this Pinktober. For instance, The Ritz Carlton, JBR, is offering a delightful pink afternoon tea and a soothing rose spa experience. Not only will you relax and rejuvenate, but you'll also contribute to this important cause.

If you're in the mood for a pink-themed mocktail, look no further than Bounty Beet, known as one of the pinkest eateries in town. What's even better? The proceeds from these pink sips are directed towards supporting breast cancer patients. It's a delicious way to make a difference.

Pinktober in the UAE embodies a beacon of hope and unity in the face of a challenging adversary - breast cancer. It's not just about pretty pink campaigns but a poignant reminder that early detection and support can make all the difference. These initiatives symbolize the significance of vigilance, fostering a culture of health consciousness, and caring for one another. In a nation renowned for its proactive stance in healthcare, the UAE leads the way, highlighting the need to be vigilant, stand together, and protect lives. This powerful message transcends borders and inspires us all.
